How can I add 8936 form to my Tax Return?

DoninGA has given posting instructions. Here is another alternative, and how to confirm the posting of the credit.

1. Once you can work on Tax Tools
2. On the drop-down select Tools
3. There will be 3 or 4 green boxes
4. Select Topics Search
5. Type 8936
6. Continue through the interview.

The 8936 (Clean Vehicle Credit) is reported on Schedule 3 and then transferred forward to the 1040 on line 20 Amount from Schedule 3, line 8 

It is calculated on form 8936 in 

• Part III Credit for Personal Use Part of New Clean Vehicles
• Or Part IV Credit for Previously Owned Clean Vehicles
• It is posted to Schedule 3 
  • line 6f for a new vehicle 
  • line 6m for a previously owned vehicle
• It is carried to the Form 1040 on line 20 Amount from Schedule 3, line 8

From the left sidebar

1. Select Tax tools
2. Hint: You may have to minimize the Federal and State selections
3. Click Tools
4. A Menu will pop up
5. Select View tax summary
6. On the left panel click Preview my 1040

If you scroll to the very bottom you can see the Schedule 3

To confirm the posting you can see Schedule 3, and your 1040.

• Check parts III or IV for entries

Scroll back to the top.

• On the second page of the 1040
• Check line 20
