There is no charge to amend a tax return if you do not need one of the higher editions due to the amend.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-current-year/L7eS6o1qh_US_en_US?uid=lfunevhk

I apologize for my very confusing question. What I meant was will I RS charging me again for the same $$$ amount of taxes that I owe?

No, the IRS will not charge you again if there are no taxes owed on the amended return, because you should have reported the amount paid from the original tax return on the amended return.

Form 1040-X Line 16 should have the amount paid with the original tax return.

To view your amended tax return, Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

Thank you so much! The amount I paid showed on line 16 and amount I owe was blank. It’s my first time amending that’s why I’m a little bit confused. Thanks to TT for doing all the work for me!
