Tax Refund Less that Half! Where is it?!

After I filed my taxes, TurboTax gave me an estimate of $933. I checked in at the IRS website to keep track and it told me I should be receiving a refund of $372.91, saying “Your refund has been reduced to pay a past due IRS obligation.”

However, yesterday, I received a direct deposit from “TPG PRODUCTS SBTPG LLC” for only $60! That’s less than half of what my refund was supposed to be! 16% of my refund!

I did some research and apparently these are the people who send the tax refunds!

Where is the rest of my refund?! The IRS said that the last due IRS obligation was paid! Why did I only get $60. Nothing on my documents suggest any fees other than the ones that were already paid!

    Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund?  (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $39.99)

    For questions on what the processing bank sent  you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/

    No, I didn’t. And even I did, that does not explain the $300+ discrepancy. There is no way there were $300 worth of fees.

    @NerdEagle90 "No I didn't"

    The only way the third party bank would be involved with your refund in the first place would be if you chose to pay your TurboTax fees from your federal refund, so, you did choose that option.   If you had paid your fees upfront using a credit card before you filed, there would be no involvement at all with the third party bank.  You would be dealing directly with the IRS.

    You will need to take a closer look at the TurboTax fees you incurred and see if you clicked on any add-on features that increased your fees, such as MAX or PLUS.

    The very same thing happened to me. This company is bold enough to once again use deception in their company practices.
    Never again will I use or recommend Turbo Tax. I realize they will not miss my business- but it is truly all I have to combat their abuse. Live and learn I guess.
