I traded my car mid year. I have my total miles and business miles on both separately. Do i list the same commuting miles for a year on each of them even though i only had each one for 6 months

No, put the commuting miles used for each car separately. You will have a separate Car & Truck Worksheet (Wks) for each vehicle. You should have 2 entries for Vehicle Expense, one for each vehicle that shows the mileage just for that vehicle. Where do I enter vehicle expense?
