I need to add income from form 4835 to a nonresident state (Colorado) income tax return in TurboTax Desktop but can't figure out a way to add a specific state to form 4835, the income is simplying going to my resident state return (Oklahoma). How can I get this income reported on the correct state tax return?

Add Colorado to the Other State Income field in the personal information section.   This will tell TurboTax to generate a nonresident return for CO.    When you go through the CO return, you will tell TurboTax which income belongs to CO.   Everything will go on your resident (OK) return.   Prepare your CO nonresident first, and TurboTax will apply credit to OK for any taxes you pay to CO.

How to add CO to Other State Income and Prepare a nonresident return.

If I created my Oklahoma (resident) return already and then created the Colorado (nonresident) return. How do I most efficiently start over with the Colorado return first and then create the Oklahoma return?

You are in the windows version I believe. You will not be able to delete the state. Go ahead and add the CO and get the liability correct. Then go through your resident OK return to get it to pull things over. Switch over to Forms mode and double check that OK picked up the CO credit on     Form 511TX.
