I can't find form 3514 in my list to delete. Can anyone help?

I was reviewing my CA taxes and it asked for me to enter business info on form 3514. I do not own a business, nor do I qualify for the EIC, so I was trying to delete this form to complete my CA tax review.

You can try to delete. The program may not allow it. If you are using:

  • Online: see How do I view and delete forms in TTO?
  • Desktop: If you are working in the cd/download TurboTax program:
    1. On the top right, there is a FORMS button.
    2. Click on FORMS.
    3. Locate the form you want to delete.
    4. Click on the form name.
    5. Below the form, bottom left, select DELETE FORM button.

The program won't delete a form with important information. If you have a young child, foster child, etc, the program is looking for each credit possible. Form 3514 is used for several child related credits and does ask for business income. Since you are not showing the form but being asked questions, the program is trying to decide if you qualify.

Please review the credits available at CAL 2023 Form 3514. If you are certain none of these suit your situation, we need to determine why the program thinks you might qualify and eliminate the issue. If you have a review error, you should be able to make a selection.

You can also go to the panel on the left side of your return and select Tax Tools, then select Tools, on the pop up screen, select Tax Topics. You may find something in the CA section of the 3514 that prevents your deleting the form.
