If you aren't self-employed or own a business, then a Schedule C is not required.

If TurboTax asks you for a Schedule C, this means that a Schedule C was inadvertently started or was carried over from previous years.

Delete this Schedule C.

  1. In TurboTax, open your return
  2. In the left-hand column, locate Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow then click on Tools
  3. On the Tools Center  page, click on Delete a form
  4. A list of forms will appear. Locate the Schedule C (name of entity) and click Delete next to it.
  5. On the next screen, click Delete Form
  6. Also delete any worksheets associated with it.

But be aware that if you received a 1099-NEC then the IRS is likely to look for a Schedule C on your tax return.
