I registered my LLC and EIN with my married name, but my social (and tax filing) is under my maiden name. Does that matter when I send off my tax return?

Your Social Security number will be the same, but when you legally change your name, there are tax consequences.

The IRS wants people experiencing a name change to remember these important things: Notify the Social Security Administration of a name change ASAP. If a name on your tax return doesn't match SSA records, it can delay the IRS processing of your return.

The IRS matches the name and SSN reported on your tax return with the records from the SSA. So, you do not need to let the IRS know you’ve changed your name if you have changed your name with the SSA office.

You should file your taxes under the name on your current social security card.  If you have changed your name with the Social Security Administration and received a new Social Security Card then file with your married name.  If you have not made the change with Social Security yet, then file with your maiden name.
