Question

I don't have a mortgage on my house but I keep getting sent back to fill out the 1098 form, which I don't have. How can I get past this?

See if there is a Form 1098 listed in your return and if it is delete the form

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen

    Click on Tools

    Click on Delete a form

There are two ways that you can delete a 1098.

First try going to the input screen.

    1. Under Federal
    2. Go to Deductions and Credits
    3. select Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098)
    4. [Add/Edit]
    5. If an item appears click the down arrow
    6. Scroll slightly down and select delete.

    The second option

    Select Tax Tools

    • Tip: You may have to minimize tabs for both Federal & State
    1. On the drop-down select Tools
    2. On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form
    3. This will give you all of the forms in your return
    4. Scroll down to the form you want to delete
    5. Select the Form 1098
    6. Or anything referencing mortgage.
    7. Click on Delete.
