I put in energy efficient windows in my home and entered the amount for just the windows and answered all the questions but got no credit but it did not tell me why Help

It is a non-refundable credit, so you would need to have a tax liability to take the credit. For nonrefundable tax credits, once a taxpayer's liability is zero, the taxpayer won't get any leftover amount back as a refund. Check line 24 of your tax return (Form 1040).
