If I lived in my main home before I rented it but it was over 10 years ago how do I answer “Did You Use This Home for Anything Other Than Your Primary Home?” Sold it 2024

"It was rented from 2013-2024. I lived in it from 2011-2013. I sold it 2024."

If the last use of this home prior to selling it was as a rental property, then you would not list is as a sale of your home but as a sale of rental property.  To do this you will can enter Rental Income in the search bar and then click Jump To.

As you walk through the steps in the rental section it will ask you if you sold or disposed of this rental property, select yes and then continue on.  This will help you report the sale of your rental property.

You will also need to delete the entries for sale of home or second home whichever way you entered it. If you entered it as a sale of a second home you can go back through and click on the trashcan next to the property.  If you listed it as a home sale walk through and delete the entries you made.
