If you are getting an import error, I suggest you post it manually.

The state error may be because of the failed W-2 import.

    Log into TurboTax.

    1. Under Federal
    2. Click Wages & Income a menu will appear.
    3. Click the down arrow on Wages & Salaries
    4. Select Wages & Salaries W-2
    5. We'll start with your W-2 select
      1. Work on my W-2
    6. Enter the employer ID from your W-2 - get this number from your W-2
    7. How would you like to add your W-2?
      1. At the bottom of the screen select [Type it in Myself]
    8. OK, let's review your form and fill in any missing info
      1. Enter your employers information.
    9. Let's review the rest
      1. Enter your W-2.
    10. Continue the interview.

Similar situation. Federal has already been submitted and accepted. State will not go through. Error code w2_import_hold error mismatch. I see those saying to delete the w2, can you do that for just the state portion?

I've done all of those things multiple times. I've done them on the phone and screen sharing with TurboTax. I deleted everything again earlier today and manually did it all again and it's been pending for hours now. I'm not sure if I should be hopeful or not.

If you have imported Form W-2 did you try deleting your W-2's and reentering them? Sometimes that clears up issues. Or if you can't import them enter them manually.

    1. Click "Search" at the top right of your screen
    2. In the search box, type "W-2"
    3. Click on "Jump to W-2"
    4. Click on "Add a W-2" or if you are deleting your Form W-2 you can click on the garbage can icon to delete it
    5. On the next screen click on "Type it Myself"
    6. On the next screens you will be prompted to enter your W-2 information from your form
    7. Answer all questions on the follow-up screens

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can enter your Form W-2 as follows:

    1. Open or continue your return
    2. Click "Search" at the top right of your screen
    3. In the search box, type "W-2"
    4. Click on "Jump to W-2"
    5. Your screen will say "We'll start with your W-2", click the box "Work on my W-2" want to file or if you are deleting your W-2 click on the garbage can icon to delete it
    6. Your screen will say "Let's Start With a Bit of Info From Your W-2" , enter your Employer ID from Box b of your W-2"
    7. Click on "Continue"
    8. You can select "Type it myself"
    9. The next screens will prompt you for the information you see on your W-2.
    10. Answer all questions on the follow-up screens

I'm also getting the below error when attempting to submit my state taxes
    Reject Code W2_Import_Hold

    Federal has already been accepted
I've started over multiple times, confirmed entries are correct and reattempted submitting but no luck

E-filing errors involving W-2s for the state often have to do with the fact that you have a State ID and employer ID on the W-2, but no state wages or state tax withheld, or that the format of the State ID is not as expected for that State.

If you have a reject notice, check it for any letters or numbers that could give you a clue as to which W-2 had the error if you have more than one. If you can't tell, review boxes 15 through 20 for any irregularites.

You might also try going back to the W-2 interview to see whether the answer to a particular question about the W-2 caused the error, or if the State employer ID number was entered correctly. States often have a protocol for how the employer ID number should appear.

In the alternative, if there are no state wages or stage withholding, try deleting the Box 15 entries altogether, or deleting the entire W-2 and reentering it without Box 15.
