As the parent, you would not enter your child's tax slips on your return. Your daughter will include her income on her own return.

If you are claiming any credits on your return for your child, you will need to enter your child's net income into the Additional Dependants Information section as some credits consider the dependant's income.

If a child is under 18, then minors may have taxes owing to them if they have earned more income than:

    • The federal basic personal amount ($13,808 for 2021). or
    • The provincial Basic personal amount (which varies by province).

However, even if your daughter is a minor and didn’t earn enough income to owe taxes, it may still be beneficial for her to file a return. For instance, if she had income tax or CPP premiums deducted at the source, she may be eligible to receive those deductions back in the form of a refund.
