Can I deduct the residential solar energy credit on my CA 540 return?

The California solar energy credit has expired. However, this credit has carryover provisions, which means that you may claim the credit only if you have an unused carryover available from prior years. You can use Form FTB 3540 to figure your credit carryover to future years, if applicable. 

 

There are local California rebates that you may be eligible for depending on your area.
