Depends on what is in your IA tax file.

One form won't be ready until 23 Feb  (Sched IA 126)

.....another one not until 1 March. (Form IA 148)

After which you would need to go thru your IA interview again to make sure all questions are answered.

We're waiting on form IA148.  It is now 15 March 2024 and the usable form has STILL not been ported to TurboTax.  Mid-March is pretty late in the year for tax forms to not be finalized.  We're going to file Federal then file state whenever they get their act together.

It is now March 26th and the Iowa Department of Revenue says there is no reason from their end that TurboTax should not have the useable form 148. It seems impossible to get to a live person at Turbo Tax to complain.

If you are planning to file your Iowa state return along with your 1040, note that the IRS is not opening e-filing until January 27, 2025. You won't be able to file your Iowa 2024 return before that point (because state returns generally require that the federal return be filed first or contemporaneously).

Since e-filing is not yet ready, I would encourage you not to file yet. Why? Because once you file the return with TurboTax, your return goes into the TurboTax queue to wait for the IRS. Once your return is in our queue, you can't make changes to your return. It happens very often that taxpayers file a return as early as possible, only to have another W-2 or 1099 or some other form show up in the mail. If you haven't filed yet, it's easy to just add the form. But if the return has been filed with TurboTax (or anyone else , for that matter), you will have to wait until your return has been accepted and processed by the IRS, and then amend your return, which is a big hassle that you can avoid by having some patience.
