TPG is holding funds, TT unable to be reached

This is kind of wild that I have to actually post a question in a community forum to get anyone to respond to me from TurboTax. My refund was issued a week ago from the IRS. I have never had any issues getting my money sent direct deposit except for this year. I am not able to reach anyone at TPG, and I’m not able to get a customer service on the phone from TurboTax either. I am ready to contact an attorney and see if maybe somebody else can get through to one of these companies that is fraudulently holding tax return funds. I am not the only one based on the comments in these threads that this has happened to. 

When I go to the TPG website, they can find my account just fine and they tell me that they’ve received my funds from the IRS. But they say that they are holding my funds because they need a drivers license (which I only found out through the telephone message when I’ve tried to call) I’ve not gotten a single notification via email or phone regarding this hold. However when I go login there to that other place to provide a DL they say they can’t find my account. So nobody contacts me to tell me that they need something from me, and when I have had to spend my time investigating to figure out what the heck I need to do, I then can’t even provide the information they say that they’re requiring. Which is on the same site that tells me they’ve received my money just fine and it’s hanging out in their bank account collecting interest. What is happening here??? TT, I have been using your services for a decade and this is seriously shameful. My direct deposit information hasn’t changed in 10 years. Why is there suddenly a problem now??? And what exactly is the problem, because I don’t know. No one has told me a thing and I can’t reach anyone. 

Not only can I not reach a single human being by phone, email, chat, etc., but I also can’t even send the information that they say is required. I am seriously overwhelmed and have no more time to spend on this. TPG is literally stealing from your customers, your community is in an uproar, and not a thing is being done about it. I want a resolution. What is the resolution to this??? I’m lucky that I don’t need this money immediately, but you have lots of customers that are in dire straits because of TPG. What is being done to fix these problems? And how does the taxpayer, your customer, go about figuring out what it is they actually need from us?

I believe an attorney is in order. I have done research into this matter and it seems to be happening to thousands of tax payers at the very least. I filed a complaint with the ooffice of comptroller already. I will be contacting the attorney general in FL, TX, UT, and CA. Those are the states that Santa Barbara Tax Products Group and their parent company GreenDot/Bonneville Bank are based out of. I urge others to do the same. TPG stole millions of dollars from Tax Payers with the assistance of TurboTax and the IRS. Their phones are on a constant busy tone. GreenDot will not assist or give corporate info to resolve matter. This is a federal crime being committed.

@Bridget668   I agree! This has been frustrating just to get a update. I spoke to intuit & TPG . I was to fix the form check date ( not the check date my check had but when they @Jeffw83 received the check ) and change the amount of the check ( check$  without their fee) . I was suppose to receive a confirmation. No confirmation. No update . These people are lying . I will do the same !

I've been on hold for 2 days over one hour I want my money this is sick I been calling irs for 5 months and this TPG been holding my money im furious!! Nobody is responding to my emails or picking up the phones !

Leave a detailed complaint with BBB. TPG will have 14 days to respond. If they do not then BBB can guide you to other options of what is needed. Don’t bother with calling, most won’t know what to say other than they “don’t know” and that they “already sent it back”. Good luck!

@Willisj20  No Way! 😳 $25?! That is absurd. I pray these ppl don’t mishandle my money like this or there will be serious problems. You need to contact TT (Turbo Tax) or an attorney. The fact that people’s funds are being tampered with like this is crazy! I pray and hope you get some resolution. Good luck! 👍

TurboTax and TPG have been holding my money as well, I can’t get through to speak to anyone at their bank and when I call TurboTax they give me different answers every time! mean while they have been holding on to my money since march and nobody is helping me. I’m going to sue them !!

I am having same issue I spend all day on phone on hold with TPG when they music stops i hear click listen to silence 2 to 3 mins then disconnected.

This is what Chime needs from me. I sent everything and even extra documents to prove my identity, however for some odd reason ever time I go on TPG website it only shows some certain things that chime not accepting. they’re trying to take my money.

I am having a similar issue as the other Turbo Tax user regarding my 2021 tax refund. I've gone in circles trying to locate my refund. I believe I added too many numbers to my direct deposit account number. I contacted my bank and thay state a refund electronic wire transfer with an incorrect account number  would automatically be rejected and bounce back to the sending bank. In a case like this they would have no record of the attempted transfer.  I went to the IRS and they have record the refund was issued to Turbo Tax. I contacted Turbo Tax and they say that because I paid for my refund directly out of my tax return TPG bank has the funds. I spoke to a representative at TPG who either was playing dumb to hid my refund or really doesn't understand his employer's process in situations like this but he told me I need to check with my bank for the wire number because according to TPG they wired the money to my bank and that's that (which I know the bank would not have this info from my investigation). TPG  state they do not have my money. Turbo tax helped me generate an email to the help desk at TPG and they swore to me i would hear back from a manager within 48 hours. Its been 7 days and I've heard nothing. I'm getting very frustrated after 4 months of going around and around about this and it's beginning to feel like TT and TPG are somehow in on a Fraud scheme.  I honestly don't know what to do at this point and would take any help or suggestions.  Like everyone in this economy I'm desperate for this money to make my bills.

If you haven't already done so, I'd use the form mentioned below to submit a request to TurboTax Corporate and complain.  It was Intuit that chose to affiliate with SBTPG in the first place, so ask them to help you resolve this.

Just below that page's main header tabs, you'll see a screen-wide blue banner that prominently says:

"Do you have a question, concern, or feedback about an Intuit product or service?"

 

There is a "Submit a Request" link.  It goes to a designated person in the office of the president of Intuit, and they supposedly will assign it to the right team for review.   After you click that link, it will ask you if you have already contacted Intuit Support.   If you say "no", it will ask you to do so and provide the phone number.   If you say "yes", however, (as in your case), it will then provide a form for you to fill out with your info, and there is a block where you can write why you contacted Support originally, and there is another block where you can write why you are escalating it to Intuit Corporate.

I’m going through tge same exact problem right now. The IRS sent my refund out 08/17/2022 and TPG is just holding it. I called TPG and asked why are they holding my refund and they said it’s an internal problem and it’s no eta on when I will get it. At this point I’m tired and I’m about to see and talk to my lawyer and if I can do anything because this is ridiculous.

I am so frustrated I was told that the reason why TPT took my money was because of the $1400 stimulus checks that I received while one I was out of work completely to have two small children and went into debt using my credit cards so the money that I am owed I was planning on paying back some credit card debt I called TurboTax they told me that the reason my tax money was being withheld was because of the $1400 stimulus checks so now $2800 is not being refunded to me I was completely unaware of this I did speak with a TurboTax person . 
and I think this is completely unfair they were unclear that this is going to be happening and apparently if there was a different way of filing I would've gotten all of my money back instead of going through TurboTax so I am very upset and I will be filing a complaint through the Better Business Bureau I will be hiring an attorney and I will be following up on this issue because that little bit of money means a lot to me right now with two small babies.

@Divinelox1 It sounds like you made a mistake when you prepared your tax return, and answered incorrectly when it asked you if you had received the 3rd stimulus payment.  If you did that, it was your own user error and the IRS corrected your error by reducing your refund.   The IRS checked every return with an amount on line 30 --if you had an amount there that you were not supposed to get, they reduced your refund.

 

 

 

 

LOTS of people have made mistakes this year with the recovery rebate credit by "forgetting" that they received the $1400 per person stimulus checks last year.  They answered no to the questions for the  recovery recovery rebate credit and put the $1400 per person on line 30 of their returns.  But you cannot get it twice, so the IRS removes it when it is there by mistake.  The IRS sent letter 6475 showing that you received the 3rd stimulus check. 

 

 

It is very important that if you filed a joint return—-the IRS sent letter 6475 to EACH spouse.  You had to enter the total amount received.   Many people misunderstood and entered only the amount from one of the letters.

Does the IRS show that you received a $1400 per person stimulus or EIP check in 2021?   Did you receive it?   When you were asked on your tax return did you say no?   Was there $1400 per person on line 30 of your tax return?

 

If the IRS says you got $1400  per person last year but you did not receive it you can have it traced.
